As per all of our blog posts, the following is a list of cocktail bars in Hanoi we’ve personally visited. As we find more qualified places, we’ll update this article post accordingly!

1. Summit Lounge

Located on the top of Pan Pacific Hanoi, Summit Lounge is one of the most luxurious rooftop bars in Hanoi. With its ideal location on the 20th floor, the Summit Lounge offers mesmerizing views of Hanoi, the Red River, and the nearby West Lake. If you’re looking for a cool spot for an amazing sunset over the tree-lined Thanh Nien road separating the two lakes, you’ve just found it.

Summit Lounge

Beside serving a wide selection of cocktails, beers and wines, the Summit Lounge also offers a nice food menu with both local and international cuisines (it’s part of a 5-star hotel). By occasions, it holds food and wine events, like a rooftop BBQ.

There are both outdoor and indoor lounges, so it’s possible to enjoy your drinks even if you’re fear of height. The Summit Lounge hits all the high notes for its stunning views, appealing décor, and five-star service. Our favorite weekend treat is taking the lift (not the staircase) to the top of the Pan Pacific Hanoi, fold ourself into one of the bird’s nest chairs and enjoy the views!

2. Top of Hanoi

Top of Hanoi is located on the 65th floor of the Lotte Center Hanoi, it’s an expansive bar and restaurant with gorgeous views of the surrounding areas. With its location, there is no doubt that Top of Hanoi owns the best views in the entire city. This place is an ideal place for both dink and dinner, from a tasty cocktail to premium spirits to a wide verity of wines.

With the kitchen located on the rooftop, the restaurant at Top of Hanoi serves a full brasserie-style menu with tasty and classic bistro-style Vietnamese and interventional cuisines. The service is fantastic, and it’s where I really feel of touching the sky!

The real highlight here is the unobstructed perspective across the city, call ahead and book their outdoor tables, perfect for couples, and enjoy a cocktail while taking Hanoi in by night.

3. The Rooftop Bar (Permanently closed, 2022)

Located on the 19th floor of the Pacific Place building, Rooftop Bar offers magnificent views of the Hanoi French Quarter and the bustling traffic on Ly Thuong Kiet street below. The Rooftop Bar offers spacious lounge, restaurant service, and night club all in one. All of which take advantage of the stunning views from 19th floor above Hanoi.

Rooftop Bar

There is outdoor terrace with comfortable seating and also indoor lounge, so you can visit even when the weather is not supporting. Here you can order either Vietnamese or Western food, or just come for a drink and enjoy the city from the top. It’s truly a great place to “drink with a rooftop view” in Hanoi.

Alright, we’ll take you down to the ground, no more rooftop! Next will be cocktail bars located on the first floor, none of staircase nor lift required so that you can call for more shots.

  • Address: 19th Floor, Pacific Place Building, 83b Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.

  • Tel: (+84) 90 222 0700

4. Nê Cocktail Bar

Nested on one of the busiest food and drink streets in Hanoi, Nê Cocktail Bar is a cozy and little cocktail bar. The place is all about cocktails, and they have some of the best mixologists in the city working here and creating some of the best cocktails you’ll find in Hanoi. Just one drink here at Nê Cocktail Bar and you’ll see our love of cocktails first-hand.

Pho cocktail

Pham Tien Tiep, the owner, is credited for creating the famous Pho cocktail that brought him the Vietnam’s best bartender title. Without the beef stock or rice noodles we see in a bowl of Vietnamese pho, Tiep’s cocktail features a generous splash of gin and triple sec with all the classic Pho’s spices and herbs. The taste is truly an incredible combination of alluring flavors!

When you go, be sure to try their Pho cocktail, and be noted that the cigarette smoke can be pervasive when it’s busy.

  • Address: 3B Tong Duy Tan Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, Vietnam.
  • Opening hours: 19h30 to 2h00
  • Tel: (+84) 90 488 6266

5. The Unicorn Pub

Like its sister, the Nê Cocktail Bar above, the Unicorn Pub nests at a corner of Hang Than Street on the fringe of Hanoi Old Quarter. Despite its humble location comparing to other popular bars, this pub is highly regarded by in-the-know locals and its expat customers.

Pho Cocktail Unicorn Pub

Here visitors can enjoy their most famous cocktail creation – the blazing Pho cocktail, as well as an ever-evolving list of creative signatures such as O Mai and Crazy Hanoi Traffic cocktails.

Beside its customized cocktail menu, its seating choices are great for those who want to settle in for a good conversation with friends with a drink in hand. And so, this is one of our favorite drink places for our travelers on the Heart and Soul of Hanoi Old Quarter food tour, we occasionally come on our own for late night libations.

  • Address: 2A Hang Than Street, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, Vietnam.
  • Open hours: 17h00 to 24h00
  • Tel: (+84) 98 121 0752

6. La Plume Bar & Lounge

Located on the top of Press Club Hanoi and just one block away from the Opera House, La Plume Bar & Lounge is truly a hot spot in the historical part of Hanoi’s French Quarter. The place offers all-day café, snacks and evening drinks, especially exotic cocktails.

La Plume Bar

La Plume is also the recommended bar to discover and enjoy the famous Pho cocktail, created by the world champion Master Mixologist Pham Tien Tiep – who opened Nê Cocktail listed above.

The establishment is elegantly decorated, and the atmosphere is romantic with an amazing view from the balcony. Beside Jazz performance (Wednesday and Friday evenings) and other live entertainments, La Plume also offers a very explanatory wine menu with up to 600 labels from around the world, a majority of those are French wines.

Bartenders at La Plume Bar are very knowledgeable about spirits and cocktails, while the service is really good, as well the food and the drinks. It’s a really an ideal bar to have a nice time with friends or as couple.

The only drawback is that, though with complimentary snacks, it’s really a bit overpriced so can be an expensive experience. Anyway, should go and check this wonderful Lounge Bar out, you will surely love it!

  • La Plume Bar & Lounge
  • 12 Ly Dao Thanh Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
  • 090 406 76 86
  • 8h00 – 23h00 (till 24h00 on Sat and Sun)

7. Angelina – Cocktail Bar, Whisky Lounge, Restaurant

The Angelina Bar is a part of the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Hotel, located on the right-hand side of the hotel’s Opera Wing. Bar lounge of the five-star hotel, so its interior looks really stylist, fancy, and cozy.

Angelina bar

Its drink list is stunning with hundreds of liquors, while the price is not too much higher than other great cocktail bars in the city. Especially, the second drink during the happy hours is free, and their complementary finger food is a nice add-on. Bartenders communicated well with their guests, which helped find the best mix that fits their taste.

Since we often have clients staying at the Metropole, we love being there during the happy hours. We haven’t tried the food menu yet, but it looks phenomenon, our clients once said they loved the lamps and the salad there.

  • Angelina
  • 56 Ly Thai To Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
  • 024 3938 6999
  • Hours: Noon to midnight. Monday to Sunday.
  • Happy hour: 16h00 to 19h00.

8. The Haflington

Opened since January 2021, The Haflington is nested on the second and third floor of an old French colonial house, which is located inside an alley in the north-western fringe of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. We took our clients there several times on our ways exploring the Old Quarter, as there’s a hidden community living in the same alley.

The Haflington Bar

The bar features a wooden classic British style, dark light theme with small green trees, and it’s said to be like a natural European museum (dinosaur skeleton and bird theme).

Though we were very impressed with the modern atmosphere of The Haflington (the ambiance is an ideal place for a date), we would rate its cocktails 6/10. As there was no much to rave about its drink, while the price was much higher than expected.

  • The Haflington
  • 94 Hang Ma, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
  • 087 949 9094
  • 15h00 to 24h00
